Sam Smart joined ViaNautis as CFO in 2026, bringing more than 20 years of executive leadership experience in financial governance, funding strategy and scaling biotech companies from early-stage discovery through clinical trials. She has held senior executive roles across a range of life sciences companies, including serving as Head of Finance and subsequently Director of Operations at Artios Pharma.

Earlier in her career, Sam developed deep expertise in the life sciences sector during more than a decade at PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP. She holds a diploma in Management Accounting from the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants and brings specialist expertise in biotech financial planning.

Sam holds an MSc in International Securities, Investment and Banking from the University of Reading, and a BSc (Hons) in Applied Microbiology from Heriot-Watt University, Edinburgh.
